Service Description

(Formerly titled The Grade Awakening) Join us for an engaging workshop designed for both teachers and school administrators ready to rethink grading practices in ways that are standards-based and aligned with competency determination. Shift the focus from simply evaluating what students know and can do, to how they think and apply their knowledge in meaningful ways. Dive into key questions: How can we assess product, process, and progress (T. Guskey, 2015)? What does equitable grading (J. Feldman, 2018) look like? How do assessments foster metacognition, sustain rigorous engagement, and challenge students to apply, create, contribute, and solve problems? Discover innovative approaches like contract grading and conferencing while emphasizing the importance of assessing enduring understandings and transferable skills. Together, we’ll tackle essential dilemmas: Are we grading compliance or cognition? Are our practices truly rigorous, or are they just rigid?
